Welcome!

Welcome to the website of Her BodyWorks massage & birth services, serving individuals and families in and around Louisville, Kentucky.

Her BodyWorks is owned and operated by Stacie Walker.  Stacie has two primary focuses in her work: helping people achieve physical and emotional health and well-being through her massage and bodywork services; and empowering new and expectant couples to achieve the birth they desire by helping them understand not only the physiological process of normal birth, but also how to have confidence and trust in that process and in every woman’s innate ability to give birth normally, meaning free from unnecessary medical interventions.  While the business was named to reflect Stacie’s personal passion for massage and bodywork and for working with families during their transition to parenthood—expectant and new mothers in particular—Stacie’s massage services are appropriate for everyone, whether male or female, young or old.

Please take a few moments to learn more about Stacie’s philosophy and the services she offers by browsing the tabs listed on the top of your screen.  If you have additional questions or would like to discuss these services further, or to make an appointment, contact Stacie directly.

About Stacie

Hi! I'm Stacie Walker, MA, LMT, NCMTLCCE, CD(DONA), a nationally-certified and state-licensed massage therapist.  I completed a 600-hour massage therapy training program at Advanced Massage Therapeutics in Louisville, Kentucky, and then went on to pass the certifying exam of the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork.  I am trained in traditional Swedish massage, deep tissue massage, and injury massage.  In addition, I have completed specialized continuing education in fertility, prenatal, and postpartum massage; newborn massage instruction; and Reiki.

Along with my work as a massage therapist, I work with new and expectant parents as a DONA-certified birth doula and DONA-trained postpartum doula.  Because I have young children of my own at home, I am not currently accepting postpartum clients, but still attend births on a limited basis.  I also share my passion for pregnancy and birth through my work as a Lamaze-certified childbirth educator.  In the summer of 2009, I developed and started co-teaching an eight-week series of childbirth classes in Louisville with Angela Garvin, a fellow Lamaze educator.

Before deciding to become a professional “birth junkie,” I worked in higher education.  I completed my B.A. at Transylvania University and my M.A. and Ph.D. coursework at the University of California at Santa Barbara.  Most recently, I held an academic administration position at a private university in Louisville, and before that, I taught college theatre and English courses at a variety of institutions.  I bring my experience with adult education into my work as a childbirth educator and am thrilled to have the opportunity to combine my love of teaching with my passion for pregnancy and birth. I further extend my services to new and expectant parents through my other business venture, Fannies Diaper Service, LLC, a cloth diaper laundering and delivery service, as well as an online retail outlet for cloth diapers, diapering supplies and accessories, and mom and baby care products.
